Immigration & residency
Bringing your family to Ireland
Whether your family can join you depends on your immigration status. Refugees and people with subsidiary protection have special rules and time limits.
The rules are different for:
- Refugees and people with subsidiary protection — you can apply for certain close family members. There are time limits, so act quickly after getting your status.
- Irish citizens and people with other permissions — family members usually apply for a “join family” visa or permission.
Applications need a lot of documents and can take a long time. Talk to us before you apply — we can check what applies to you and help you prepare.
